Dear Mr. Lindauer,

From the past years that you have been here, I’m sure you have seen the gym ceiling in better shape. A new gym ceiling would be a great project and it would help benefit the school. The student body would be much happier to announce that there was a new ceiling in our gym. If we got a new gym ceiling, the ventilation would be much better. The air would be much cooler and a lot less people would complain about the heat. We could get new speakers so whenever our athletes are warming up, they have something to listen to. While installing the new ceiling, we could figure out a way to put air conditioners into the ceiling.
The bad problem about having a new gym ceiling is money. The school has been trying to budget our money. But with a bunch of different kinds of fundraisers, we could pull it off maybe after a couple years. Trying to decide when and how long it would take to make a new ceiling wouldn’t be hard. I think summer would be the best time to make it. If we did make it during school or a break, there wouldn’t be enough time to get it finished. Then that would be a problem for our athletes and students who have gym. Thank you for taking your time to read this letter. I hope you will think long and hard about this one.

Sincerely,

J. Fritz

The Birds Movie Review

The Birds
In this clip The Birds, Alfred Hitchcock has major special effects with the birds. This is a great effect to have in a movie because without them, it would be really boring and nobody would want to watch “The Birds.” Some of the special effects make people believe that the birds can actually attack people. If you’re in for a horror movie, then this is your kind of movie.
In one part of The Birds, Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) visits Annie Hayworth (Suzanne Pleshette), the school teacher. While they are there, the birds start to land on the play ground. Then the kids start to run and the birds fly into the sky and then swoop down attacking the kids, Melanie, and Annie. These special effects make viewers want to watch more.
The story starts out with Melanie and a guy named Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor) meet at a bird store. They talk and tease each other while Melanie becomes attracted to Mitch. After a while, Melanie went to visit Mitch in Bodega Bay where he stays over the weekends with his sister Cathy (Veronica Cartwright) and his mom (Jessica Tandy). When Melanie gets there, she goes to Mitch’s place and secretly leaves lovebirds for Cathy’s birthday. After she leaves in the boat she rented, Mitch drove to the other side of the lake to meet Melanie. While Melanie gets ready to get out of the boat, a bird swoops down and attacks Melanie. Mitch and Melanie start to fall in love while they are together. After more events happen, other attacks start to happen and people become suspicious. Mitch then boards up all the windows and doors to the house. That way if the birds did attack, they would be safe. But that didn’t stop the birds from coming in. Up-stairs in a bedroom, birds broke in through the roof. While everyone is asleep in the house, Melanie wakes up to a noise coming from up-stairs. Melanie heads up the stairs and opens the door. Birds were from wall to wall. Melanie walked in and birds started to attack. Trying to yell for help, Melanie falls to the ground, blocking the door to where no one could get in. Everyone down stairs wakes up to all the birds squawking and Mitch runs to Melanie. With Melanie being in front of the door, it’s harder for Mitch to get in. The end gets worse with a terrible ending but watching the movie is worth it. I encourage you to watch The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock because the graphics and special effects will surprise you.

Cause and Effect Eassy

Suspense is caused by cause and effect when Rainsford meets General. Also the General followed Rainsford's difficult path and when the author tells about the new game.
Rainsford crashed on the island causes suspense because Rainsford hears noises on the island. The cause and effect relationships are because Rainsford heard something on the island; he leans over the yacht, falling into the water. Rainsford thinks where there are people, there is food. Soon he is introduced to a new game. The game in which General Zaroff, the guy Rainsford met, calls hunting is not actually hunting in Rainsford's eyes. It is murder and Rainsford becomes the pray. Rainsford says in the story “Hunting? General Zaroff, what you speak of is murder.” (Connell, 27)
General Zaroff explains, “I had to invent a new animal to hunt.” (Connell, 26) This line causes suspense by using cause and effect relationship because as General Zaroff explains to Rainsford, Rainsford discovers that General Zaroff hunts humans. Also, this line causes suspense because the author doesn’t come right out and say he hunts humans. Reading between the lines causes suspense because the author makes the reader think about how the General can be. Also it makes the reader wonder who the General really is and what he hunts.
“I’ll give him a trail to follow,” muttered Rainsford, and he struck off from the rude paths he had been following onto trackless wildness.” (Connell, 31) This sentence causes suspense by using cause and effect because Rainsford is not afraid of the General so Rainsford is going to make it difficult for the General to hunt him. This causes suspense because the reader doesn’t know who is going to win and it could cause Rainsford’s life. It also causes suspense because if Rainsford wins, then the General will have lost and the General has never lost. It also shows that Rainsford is brave and will fight for his life even though the General has hunted people and never lost.
The story “The Most Dangerous Game” is full of suspense that is caused by cause and effect. I gave a few examples that are very interesting. Rainsford wins while surviving for three total days. On the other hand, the General lost his first hunting game.

Hunter or being hunted?

In the story “The Most Dangerous Game,” a man named Rainsford was on a yacht traveling to find an island. Leaning over the yacht, he heard a gun shot and fell into the water. He swam to shore and fell asleep not knowing that soon he would be hunted.

If I was in this story, I would like to be the hunter because if I was being hunted, there would be more chances to die. I would rather hunt someone because I would not want to die and I think it would be fun to hunt people. I would feel bad sometimes because it would be kind of like murder, not a game. Also, I think I would get worried because if someone won, if they would try to leave and turn me in. If I ever lost, I would be ashamed because I know I failed, especially if I lost for the first time.
