The Birds Movie Review

The Birds
In this clip The Birds, Alfred Hitchcock has major special effects with the birds. This is a great effect to have in a movie because without them, it would be really boring and nobody would want to watch “The Birds.” Some of the special effects make people believe that the birds can actually attack people. If you’re in for a horror movie, then this is your kind of movie.
In one part of The Birds, Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) visits Annie Hayworth (Suzanne Pleshette), the school teacher. While they are there, the birds start to land on the play ground. Then the kids start to run and the birds fly into the sky and then swoop down attacking the kids, Melanie, and Annie. These special effects make viewers want to watch more.
The story starts out with Melanie and a guy named Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor) meet at a bird store. They talk and tease each other while Melanie becomes attracted to Mitch. After a while, Melanie went to visit Mitch in Bodega Bay where he stays over the weekends with his sister Cathy (Veronica Cartwright) and his mom (Jessica Tandy). When Melanie gets there, she goes to Mitch’s place and secretly leaves lovebirds for Cathy’s birthday. After she leaves in the boat she rented, Mitch drove to the other side of the lake to meet Melanie. While Melanie gets ready to get out of the boat, a bird swoops down and attacks Melanie. Mitch and Melanie start to fall in love while they are together. After more events happen, other attacks start to happen and people become suspicious. Mitch then boards up all the windows and doors to the house. That way if the birds did attack, they would be safe. But that didn’t stop the birds from coming in. Up-stairs in a bedroom, birds broke in through the roof. While everyone is asleep in the house, Melanie wakes up to a noise coming from up-stairs. Melanie heads up the stairs and opens the door. Birds were from wall to wall. Melanie walked in and birds started to attack. Trying to yell for help, Melanie falls to the ground, blocking the door to where no one could get in. Everyone down stairs wakes up to all the birds squawking and Mitch runs to Melanie. With Melanie being in front of the door, it’s harder for Mitch to get in. The end gets worse with a terrible ending but watching the movie is worth it. I encourage you to watch The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock because the graphics and special effects will surprise you.

  1. Jessica, your third paragraph was unbalanced and didn't flow. All I could detect was that you basically summarzied the movie and gave it away. I would advise you to explain why you encourage the veiwers to watch this movie. Add in facts to why these special effects were so fantastic too. Overall, not a bad review, but with minor adjustments, this review could be over the top.

  2. Jessica,
I thought that your review is more about the story line rather than if you think people should go see it and why. This will help you alot .:) Also you may want to underline the name of the movie of italisize it! i like the facts however i think you make the reader focus on the story line more than wether they should watch!!

  3. I like how you summarize just enough of the story to show the story line, but leave enough out so that the viewers can still enjoy the other parts without it all being given away. But make sure you are backing up your opionions by whats in the movie.

  4. The sencond paragraph you just jump into the middle of the story. You should expain is happening in the middle of the story. In the third paragraph you just throw things out there it wasnt in a orderly fashion. Overall good job.

  5. you forgot to put where there is in the movie that could be a little confusing. the other thing is that you summerized a huge part of the movei but not to much. you kept on track not say that it was horrible and tell them to watch it.
